Dismantling derelict factories, tar pits or waste sites is not without risk. In the past, the soil may have been contaminated with a mixture of various pollutants. When working the soil, these can lead to significant peak loads. On the contrary, machine operators without proper protection are exposed to extreme health risks.
Every sector has its own hazardous substances. That is why BMAir offers special systems and filters for various sectors.
It is one of the most produced chemical substances and used as a raw material for other chemical substances. As of 1 October 2017, the limit value of benzene was reduced; the new limit value is now 0.7 mg/m3 (0.2 PPM). The International Agency for Research on Cancer has categorised it as carcinogenic for human beings (Group 1). Prolonged exposure to benzene can cause acute myeloid leukaemia, which is the most common form of acute leukaemia in adults.
This volatile compound is carcinogenic and is usually the result of decomposition of contaminants with solvents such as tetrachloroethylene (PERC) or trichloroethylene (TCE) that are used, among others, for chemical cleaning of textile and which in even fairly low concentrations can cause eye irritation, headaches, dizziness and weakness.
Cyanides can be found in grounds where gas factories or metal-processing companies previously stood. A characteristic of this chemical compound is that it contains a CN ion. Free cyanides (which includes hydrogen cyanide gas) evaporate easily; they enter the body through breathing and block the supply of oxygen to the tissues. This causes headaches, dizziness and nausea, or death.
The slightest exposure can already lead to chronic fatigue, headaches and concentration problems. BMAir protective ventilation systems and filters guarantee that operators can work more safely in these types of conditions.
